The story of random words

Our very last class has a topic to make out a story, poems or song from random words that our lecturer showed on the projector.
So, I decided to typed out a story. Here it is....
In the story, this is the castle of Labidadu
Once upon a time, a beautiful lady bug can be seen at the window. Her beautiful velvet colored dress flutter and dazzle, contrasting the dark blue night sky. Her brother came from behind because he looked almost the same as her, I know that he's her brother. They talked for a while and suddenly, she hit him with a concrete and he bleed as he fell down. I was dumbfounded, looking at a corpse in front of me.

Petrified by the scenery, I heard a laugh, a ferocious laugh from up there, at the window, the lady bug screamed out, "I have sacrificed my brother for this sacred ceremony! God, give me the power to heal, to regenerate! I've long desired to life a long live!"

Her laugh kept ringing in my ear as the warm red blood of lord bug streaming under my feet. At the day, I heard people from the village whispered about the death of lord bug, "what a crappy morning, the kind lord bug fell down the cliff. What a horrible accident! Poor lady bug, those two are really close for sibling" but, I know the truth. I know that's not the case and that's when I decided, I need to stop her.

Night time came and I took my moist fishes with salt. I sneaked into her room and confront her. She asked "who are you?"

"I'm the son of a fisherman, I came here to put you to your eternal sleep! How can you kill a kind, selfless man like lord bug?!" I shouted as I wet my lips while pointing a swordfish to her neck.

The wind blew towards the room, making the smell of her perfume filled the room. Ironic, how I still thought that she's much more beautiful up close.

Maybe

Well, that's all for the story. I'm not sure if it will be continued but give me your opinion. Hahaha~

This topic made me have a really fun time at school. I did some quotes with my friend, Jessica A.K.A Jesu. Linking words together is one of the way for people to produce something. Just like how I came out with a....kind of different "once upon a time" kind of story. You can also linked it by using mindmap, making it easier for you to see and think of other words that can be linked.

I hope you enjoy reading this short story. I might consider to make a story out of it for fun.

Forcing Connections

I was assigned to connect artist and x-ray. I came up with a pencil that can make any 2 dimensional drawing into 3D. How? I thought that nowadays, smartphone can detect face or even other pictures and instantly using internet to search for the connection with the pictures so, it means that it can also detect 2D object and searched for the whole picture from scanning it in the pencil.

What's more, since smart watch came out, it seems to be much more possible to do that. Now, the problem is how to make the 3D object plastered on the paper. That's when printer came across my mind, the pencil will have printing function planted inside it and once the pencil has scanned it, it will automatically print out on the paper.

One more idea is that, if the two words are combined, it will become X-rartist, which can be a good character name, either for a villain or hero. The background of this person is he/she was an artist but, one day, he/she has a superpower to be able to see people's deepest thoughts. He/she will have to save or destroy the world by using that power.

In the last post, we connected or compared an object with others. This time, we're using words. People got inspiration strangely from incoherent words that doesn't seem to be able to make connection at all. As an example rainbow and ice cream, it can be make into ice cream with rainbow flavour or coloured like rainbow or even can be make to look like semi-circle rainbow.

Analogical Thinking & Pareidolia

Analogical thinking consists of 3 types, first is direct analogy, comparing an object with other object.. Second is symbolic analogy, an object that represent something that can't be touched or doesn't really exist in a sense, like emotion or feeling. Third, fantasy analogy, comparing things in the most unexpected, outrageous, illogical ways.

Direct Analogy
Symbolic Analogy
The megaphone kid represent noisiness.
Fantasy Analogy
The lecturer gave us some practise with a partner. The topic is how would we feel like if we're an object and make a solution for our problems as an object. I choose to be a scissor, it is sharp, can hurt people if used in the wrong way, which can make me sad and people might stay away. The solution is that to make the scissor not sharp enough to cut people's hand, only be able to cut papers.

It is smiling at me! O.O

Also, we learned another new word! Yaaay, level up in vocabulary. Clap clap, that new word is pareidolia! Never heard of it? Good, because I'm going to explain 100 paragraphs about it. Just kidding.

Pareidolia means that moment when your brain tricked you that makes you be able to perceive a face in an object or in a certain moment. Kind of like when people mistaken that they saw a ghost when it's actually a white cloth fluttering or something similar.
Looks like a dancing person with hands
and a leg up.
I ate bananas for breakfast and when I put it down, it suddenly looks like
a dragonfly.

These two words make me think that we shouldn't be to closed minded and open ourselves to see something entirely different. To be narrow minded is not a good thing is a way, especially for artistic people because we need more inspiration in order to produce something. However, I must keep in mind that by embracing people's ideas, I have to be able to perceive what's wrong and right for my artwork. We must be able to stop ourselves from doing something outrageously...negative.

Out of the Box

Greeting, readers.
It has been a while since the last time I typed that. How's your day? I hope it's fine.

Last week, the teacher told us to think out of the box. First, she asked what will we do if we're stuck in a house in the middle of a forest at night and we only have 1 match, we're given 3 options as to which one we'll light up. First, the candle, second, the oil lamp and third, firewood.

A lot of people answered to light the firewood, since it's in the middle of the forest so, gathering firewood will be easy and it'll last long. Some people answered to light up the oil lamp while, a little amount of people answered to light the candle. My friend, Dillon said that he'll burn the house and I'd burn the forest. The right answer for this is that you have to light the candle first, since it's the easiest to light up. Then, you use the candle to light up the oil lamp and firewood.

Afterwards, the teacher asked us again, "if you have a neighbor who has a farm of chickens and your gate is broken, causing the chickens to run on rampage in your vegetable garden, what will you do to solve the problem without offending your neighbor?"
We thought for a while and wrote down some ways to solve the problem. Some people solved in the logical way, while some have outrageous ideas.

The next one was, in a classroom, the windows are opened and on the shelf in front of the window sits a vase of fresh flower. Across the flower, on the wall, hanged a painting of the same flower. A bee fly through the window and go straight to the painting, why does it go to the painting instead of the real flower?

My friends spouted out some weird ideas, like the painting smell like honey, the painting catch more attention, the bee is actually a robot and its house is beside the painting.

After that quiz, we played a game by using tissue rolls to deliver marbles to the last person standing in line. Seven people stood in a line as a group and can only use 1 roll for 1 person. The whole class thought of the same idea to deliver it. It was fun.

Playing games like those can open up your mind especially, if you played them with friends. It was a really fun week. Why don't you try to play it with your friends too?

Thank you for reading.

Presentation

Presentation is needed to express your ideas and opinions to a group of people. Our teacher told us to do presentation after making a mind map at school.

One of the ways to train people to become more confident. What's the connection with art? Well, usually, shy/quiet people are introverted and hard to express and/or open up his/her mind. Closing yourself will stop your imagination running wild too. Maybe you can still be imaginative but, it will run out soon or later. What's more, by becoming open-minded, you'll be able to understand people more, like your friends.

Anyway, presentation is a skill needed for you to tell people your work. If you don't train how to speak well, people might misunderstand you, leading to people won't buy your artwork and you become poor and won't be able to afford food anymore and bing bong, welcome to heaven. However, I didn't talk much in the presentation last week. Why? I forgot, maybe I had a terrible day or something.

The teacher told us to split subjects for each of us to present the audience. Dillon talked about entertainment that will make people smile, Kelly was about foods and how that can make people happy. I presented about ideas, the actual meaning is that when people get good ideas, they smiled automatically. From ideas, you can make songs, paintings, recipes, produces convenient tools to make people happy and smile. I got that thought after the presentation though.

From that experience, looks like I need to prepare and organize what I have to say and present to the audience. Also, don't drag your emotions and problems during presentation. Don't forget to smile, speak louder and look at audiences when talking, that will make you look confident and they will think that you know what you're doing.

After each group's presentation, the teacher gave us advice to improve our presentation skill. It is a good skill to develop, good stuff the school teaches us to do such thing.

I only said something like "When we get ideas, we smile." I still have a lot to improve.

Well, that's all for today. Have you ever done presentation, readers?

Mind map

Greeting, readers.

Last time, I typed about brainstorm. Today, it's about mind map. Mind map and brainstorm are quite similar. The difference is that in mind map, you planned it beforehand and it has to be logical. Other than that, both of them are the same.

Last Thursday, the teacher split us into groups again, a different one from last time. Teacher called our names randomly before. Now, she asked us to say our number according to our seats. There will be three people with the same number and that means you're in the same group. A neat plan to make random people in the same group.

I'm in the same group as...
Kelly and Dillon
People behind Dillon are just extras doing photo bomb and making his arm disappear.

In that short time on Thursday, I get to know that Kelly likes Jazz music, potatoes and...some other foods. Dillon's mother is really kind and skilled, she made a pencil case for him to let him take a lot of colored markers to school. I also know that Dillon likes to annoy people.

Oops... I'm getting off track. Going back to mind map.

Our topic for mind map is "Creating Smiles", looks easy but not really. At first, we didn't know what to write on Mahjong paper so, we wrote common stuff that make people smile such as, eating delicious food, annoy other people and listening to music. After that, we expanded it. Last time's picture of the brainstorm, it wasn't suppose to be like that. That is more of a mind map. In brainstorm, you just wrote out ideas for the topic, while in mind map, you can connect stuff together to the topic like, priest and monk can be linked to religion and conflict (the teacher pointed it out so we won't be confused.)

Well, I had another fun at class and we drew a smiley in the mind map. Can you see it?

That's all about mind map. Thank you for reading.

Impressionism

Greeting, readers.

You must have heard of Van Gogh and his sad history,he's included as impressionist artist. Impressionist is an art movement that doesn't have deep details in the painting, it's more of a painting of certain emotions. Impressionism originated from 19th Century based on a group of Paris-based artists.

<Impressionism paintings
Academic paintings>

There are a lot of impressionist artists at around 18th-19th, there are also some females. The three most famous female impressionists are described as "les trois grandes dames" meaning the three leading ladies. Today, I'll write about them.

Mary Cassatte (22nd May 1844-14th June 1926)

Mary Cassatte was born in a wealthy family in America. Her parents opposed her decision to be a professional artist at first however, she started studying at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1861-1865. She stopped studying at that school because it was really slow paced and moved to France. However, because of some problems, she moved around until she finally go back to France. At her dark time, she was invited by Edgar Degas, she had admired him since 1875 from Degas powerful pastels painting.

After joining the Impressionists, she befriend Berthe Morisot, the first female member in that group. Cassatte stayed with them until 1886 when she began to exhibit her works at New York galleries.
It's still vague whether Cassatte has a relationship with Degas since both of them share similar traits.

Marie Braquemond (1st Dec 1840-17th Jan 1916)

Marie Anne Caroline Quivoron, She was born from an unhappy arranged marriage unlike Cassatte and Morisot. After her father's death, her mother remarried and they moved around until they resided in south of Paris. She studied painting from M.Wasser and progressed incredibly. Her work got accepted by the Salon at 1857.  Felix Braquemond saw her when she was painting and they got married after engaged for 2 years. In 1870, Braquemond's delicate body deteriorated after her son's birth.

Under the influence of the Impressionist during 1887-1890, her style began to change and her husband was disgusted. Most of her famous works were painted outdoors. She even said in defense to her husband's harsh critiques, "Impressionism has produced ... not only a new, but a very useful way of looking at things. It is as though all at once a window opens and the sun and air enter your house in torrents."

Berthe Morisot (14th Jan 1841-2nd March 1895)

Morisot was born in a painter's family and moved to Paris when she was really young. Morisot's first career started at Salon de Paris in 1864 until 1873, a year before the Impressionist's first exhibition.
In 1868, Morisot met Edouard Manet and he caught a special interest in her. While it should be that Manet who taught her impressionism, their relationship seemed to be quiet different.
Morisot tried to persuaded Manet into plein air painting, she's also the one who invited Manet into the Impressionists. In 1874, Morisot married Manet's brother, Eugene, and they had one daughter, Julie.
Morisot's paintings reflect the 19th Century's culture and she avoided nude paintings. Like Mary Cassatt, she focused on domestic life.

These three ladies are respectable, they wanted to try something different with different reasons each. They didn't care for the critics they get from people. I'd like to have their strong determination to art as well.

What do you think, readers?
Think for a while and thank you for reading.
